TW: If you don't want to hear about birth control, periods and pain, skip this post! Thank you! ^^
Yesterday I made my finale decision and it's a rather big one: I'm quitting birth control. Yes, no more pumping in hormones in my body every single day; no more mood swings; no more depression; no more pain; no more nausea every other day. Of course, I will have my period again every month and it will probably be very irregular the first few months - if not up to a year - which will be very unusual for me, but I will hopefully feel better and have more energy to do more than work and sleep! Before I started bc in July 2020 (wasn't on it that long, I know), I had very regular periods (except for a period when I wasn't very kind to my body and went on diet + worked out way more than recommended) and slim to NONE cramps. But since I got on bc, I've had those awful cramps every now and then. So, why take it if I only feel crap and don't have the energy to do anything? To not get pregnant? Well, there are way more methods to prevent pregnancy rather than the pill. Besides, I'm sick of being the one in a heterosexual partnership to take precautions. Time for the men to step up. Please, all researchers out there, make a birth control for men, thank you very much. To end this post with some pleasantness: me an my sisters cat, Bagheera <3
working out from home. We do have a treadmill; a multi-machine where you strengthen back, legs and shoulders; dumbbells; medicin ball; bicycle and such. So, I can basically do all the exercises from right here. However, at a gym, you feel more inspired to push the limits.
Time to spend some time with my sister. Have a wonderful day/night!
wasn't able to have the true "student life". It wasn't much restrictions, no, but we had online studies and you never were on campus. Which was rather boring. And being stuck at home, in my 21 square meter apartment didn't make my sanity any better. It was just depressive being alone in a tiny space, so I accepted my parents suggestion and moved back to the "countryside", and here I am, two years later, still studying online. It's crazy to think of me getting my Bachelor Degree next summer... It's been so long since covid hit and it is still roaming around with its manny versions...Ugh.
time. Along with that, I also have my Specialization within Psychology course, which is coming to an end in less than a week and I have to finish my fourth and then finale draft after my supervisor has read it through. Today, I got my opposition from a peer. No huge comments, just minor ones I easily can "fix". However, it is a little stressful. So, I need to calm down, which can easily be fixed with a girls night which I will have with my sis on Wednesday. We've decided to watch the new movie Dune. Has anyone seen it? What do you guys think of it? Is it worth watching or too complicated?
Talk to you soon! Hugs, Gabbie Yes, winter is coming. It is basically already here, but before we can bring on all the Christmas Spirit (tomorrow, when we celebrate "first advent" in Sweden) we need to make a summer 2021 recap. It was pretty good, although it went by fast, since (what it felt like) all I did was work. But here's my summer in a few pictures. Enjoy! (Btw, this post is more computer friendly.) First, a picture of me on the bus, heading towards a day at the "beach" with my sis. On the other, a fresh summer salad - a must-do-dish during summers. Just look at it - it's so eye catching! I'll probably do a little recipe below Sweet & Sour. On the third pic below are a few photo booth pics of me and my sis on a Girls Night Out weekend in Stockholm. <3
Me and my sis on a small trip to Skärgården. Took a seat at an old canon, enjoying the view of the Baltic Sea. Below to the right: another pic from our day in Skärgården. To the left: me enjorying the beautiful weather outside Glashyttan Ulven (the place my dad tried "glassblowing"). He got a "An Experience"-Christmas gift 1,5 years ago from me and my sis. Due to covid, he had to cancel his earlier appointment. BUT this year, he finally got to make his own glass bowl from scratch. The whole family came along to see the work in process and I'll say, it was an experience not just for Dad. We were taught a lot about glassblowing and its history. Last pictures are [again] from a night out. Had made my nails and were overjoyed by how the result turned out! To the left, some delicious nachos (as you might have noticed from this post: food is happiness)!
It is that time of the year. Autumn. My favorite season. Misty sunrises with a hot cup of tea to warm your soul; rainy days in front of the computer - planning my fantasy series; cosy evenings by the fireplace - a hot cup of chocolate in my hands and a good book to let my mind wander off to explore new worlds and live millions of additional lives. I'm currently reading The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid whenever I have spare time in between my studies and writing. (When I'm finished, I will publish a review of it here, don't you worry.) I've read half of it and the series is promising. examination the twenty-ninth of September (in less than two weeks now!). What am I studying? Still psychology, but this semester I've only got Statistics and (drum roll, please): "Specialization/Deep dive in Psychology" ("Fördjupning i Psykologi"). Statistics, I'm not a fan of, but I do look forward to the "deep dive" in psychology. The Psychology Department of Stockholm University actually contacted me 1,5 weeks ago, offering a spot in the course this year, which I got frenzy about! I did apply, but didn't get in considering only four people each semester/year are approved, but now I'm one of them four! It seems almost too good to be true. At the same time, I'm wondering if I can make it at this point, because I'm dealing with some other stuff on the side.
Anyhow, October looks pretty good. I'm going on a fun weekend to Stockholm with my sis. We have plans on a small shopping spree during the day and out for some drinks when night falls upon the Capital of Sweden. Oh, and, of course, delicious food and [hopefully] celebrate that it felt good during my examination. We're also heading to a crystal shop in Gamla Stan. Then I have a meeting later on in October. I'm also thinking about booking my Afternoon Tea that I got in present a year ago. Beside all that, my sis wanted to have a Halloween Celebration (which we barely have in Sweden, btw, but it always looks so cozy when Americans go all in on the Holliday in movies/series). To some more recent, sad, things that happened this morning. (1) My phone screen stopped working... and it couldn't have happened at a worser time. At the moment, I'm studying, and I don't have an income. I get by very fairly, since I've enough money saved, but I'm not keen about spending any "unnecessary" money on a new phone. Concurrently, I know that I've to have one, since my bank is connected with my phone ID and that's where the (2) comes in: my cards were blocked since I'd forgotten my second password to my bank so I've been sitting in telephone queue this afternoon... Yay. Fortunately, it all went well and I've access to my accounts again. To end this post on a happy note: here's a picture of my baby boy, Bagheera ❤️
After the champagne breakfast, the students head to the school or chosen place (by the school) and have some speeches, you receive your grades/certificates and some gets scholarships, you write your signature inside your classmates hats, take pictures (with your friends privately, and in group/portrait by a professional). You sing the "graduation song" (studentsången), some have picknicks, some have lunches/brunches with their school on graduation day (my class had it a few days before, it really depends on the school).
Then, it's the "Out-Run" (direct translation from "utspring"), which is when all the students have their countdown and THEN they RUN OUT OF SCHOOL SCREAMING, SINGING, YELLING from the top of their lungs. Outside, all relatives/friends/etc are standing, waiting with placards with: (1) the picture of their graduate student (as a kid--sometimes/often an embarassing pic), (2) name of class and (3) year of graduation. The relatives hang different funny objects around the student's neck, weighing him/her down (often stuff toys, flowers, alcohol, etc). After being greeted by ones relatives, there's often something called "flaket", which is where the classes has rented big trucks they've decorated with personal homemade posters about their class and its members--sometimes even as a joke or sarcastic comments about other programs (as an example: I was in the Science Program, so we could make fun och the Technology-, Social Science- or Economy Programs which our school had), Anyhow, you get onboard the trucks platform, which has been equipped with loud speakers. Then you go around the city, blasting music and jumping, singing, screaming - CELEBRATING GRADUATION! I graduated in Stockholm and in the Capital we also had something called "ölregn" (beer rain), which is exactly what it sounds like: our class bought TONS of beer and had a beer rain while speeding through town, dancing, singing, screaming! It is SO MUCH FUN! Two hours later, you go back to where you left your parents and go home to meet all your relatives at something we call "studentmottagning" (student's reception) and you celebrate again: drink, eat, receive presents and have fun before it's time to head out with your classmates and celebrate until the next day (at a club, out downtown - just go somewhere and basically drink lots with all your friends). As you may understand, it's a very special day - very memorable indeed. A last message to all the graduates of 2021: YOU MADE IT! CONGRATZZZ!
I'm not complaining, I got a little done and feel exceedingly good! Starting later in the day gives me the mornings to take it easy, drink some tea, write and then exercise.
This last weekend, my sister graduated (as written in the last post), so perhaps another post will be published soon with some pictures from that day - it was truly a great day, even though it rained a little. See you all soon, Gabbie |
